The Team

After campaigning in FF1600 and BARC Formula Renault Middlehurst Motorsport entered into a successful partnership with MGR Racing. MGR racing was formed by Mark Godwin. In a career spanning nearly 20 years in top-flight motorsport, Mark has won more than 80 races and over 7 championship titles in Formula First, Formula 2000, Formula Ford Zetec, BARC Formula Renault and Formula Renault 2.0.

In 2011 the Middlehurst Motorsport team successfully ran Chris Middlehurst, in FF1600 culminating in Chris winning his first race before he even had a driving licence at the age 16.  The ultra successful year saw Chris and the team win the National FF1600 Championship, Northern FF1600 Championship & Champion of Oulton.

2012 saw the team run in the BARC Protyre Formula Formula Renault Championship for the first time.  Running in the main championship and the Winter Series Championship.

Chris Pit Lane

While the season was very much a learning experience for both team and driver, it saw Chris finish the season as one of the most consistent podium finishers towards the end of the season and be in a fight for the Winter Series Championship going into the final rounds.

2013 saw Chris tie up a deal with MGR Racing that allowed the Middlehurst Motorsport continue to prepare the car from their Merseyside base in St. Helens but rely upon the added expertise of MGR Racing of a race weekend.  This relationship first bore the trappings of success in 2013 will culminated with Chris winning the Protyre Formula Renault Championship with 2 rounds to spare.

Having been short listed as a BRDC McLaren Autosport Young Driver finalist Chris was not short of offers for 2014.  After much deliberation BRDC F4 won the vote enabling Chris to continue his successful relationship with MGR Racing.
